Calais Health began operations on October 1, 2000 with a principle objective of creating greater health care value for its Group Health, Behavioral Health, and Employee Assistance Program customers. An equally significant goal of Calais is to extend the healing mission of its founder, the Franciscan Missionaries of Our Lady Health System (FMOLHS). In the turbulent and often confusing health care market of today, these goals appear to be in conflict with soaring costs, shrinking insurance benefits, and diminishing choices confronting health care consumers.
